Analysis of a Blog Victory

Darryl over at Hominid Views got racist columnist Adele Ferguson fired from the Kitsap Peninsula Business Journal.  In case you've missed it, Darryl with help from other bloggers, in particular the satirical Patriotboy at Jesus' General, publized a hateful column that Ferguson wrote a couple of weeks ago.  After receiving 1500 emails and many phone calls from all over the country, the editor decided not to renew the columnist's contract when it comes up, which is soon.

Darryl discusses what he did and the impact it had and reaches the conclusion that even the smaller blogs have a critical role to play in influencing public opinion and effecting change.  It's a great read.

Speaking of Bloggers and their impact on events, please get the news out about this:

The Oglala Sioux, led by their chief Cecilia Fire Thunder, have decided that they will open a Planned Parenthood clinic on their reservation, which will be unaffected by the South Dakota abortion ban.

Kathrynt has contacted the Oglala Sioux Tribe and spoken with Ms. Fire Thunder herself (read the post here: http://kathrynt.livejournal.com/366823.html ). Information on where and how to send support and donations are in her post. Apparently, Ms. Fire Thunder was very surprised to find out that anybody out of South Dakota knew or cared.

The theo-conservatives are certain to respond to this very violently, so it is imperative that the tribe receives as much moral and financial support as possible so that they don't fold in the face of the coming onslaught. Please email your support and send donations if you are financially able.

Please repost this information far and wide.
