Sonics going-away party

Offended that the Sonics owners are demanding we prioritize their arena over other needs in our city.  And that they think kicking in 8% is a fair deal for the rest of us?  Then...

1) Sign the petition:  www.finethenleave.com

2) Come to the going-away party: Thursday, May 11, noon, City Hall

3) Help plan the party: Tuesday May 2, 7PM, the Elysian Brewery, 1221 E. Pike, capitol hill

As a resident of Los Angeles, I can state that a community CAN survive without giving the city coffers to sports teams.

In fact, I've become convinced that U.S. sports leagues would become more efficient if they adopted a page from foreign leagues and implemented relegation, in which the bottom team(s) in the league gets kicked down to the minor leagues, and the best minor league team(s) moves up.
