Possibly the Best Political Ad Ever

VoteVets has an ad up against Senator George Allen of Virginia that is hard-hitting and totally straight-forward.

I have a bet out with a friend that James Webb is going to beat George Allen on November 7th.  When I saw this ad, I decided I was likely to win that dinner.

Bill Hillsman is a fracking genius. His ads are heads and shoulders above the rest.

An amazing ad, but apparently a misleading one. I loved it enough to repost it on the Free Dartmouth blog, but now, from factcheck.org:

"Allen did not vote against giving troops modern body armor. What the ad cites is a vote on an amendment April 2, 2003, just days before the fall of Baghdad, that would have appropriated just over $1 billion for unspecified "National Guard and Reserve Equipment." It made no mention of body armor. ...The ad also... falsely claim(s) that troops were sent to Iraq using vests " left over from the Vietnam War." What the ad actually shows, however, is not a Vietnam-era vest at all but an improved vest the Pentagon adopted in the 1980's, and which was standard issue until the current "Interceptor" armor began to be phased in starting in 1999."
