Rocky Anderson for VP in 2008

McCranium had a YouTube video-clip up up a few days ago of mayor Rocky Anderson of Salt Lake City talking about what real patriotism is.  This video is a clip of a rousing talk he gave at a protest in Salt Lake City in August when Bush was in town to speak at a Veterans of Foreign Wars convention.

That dude is the real thing. We need a real populist next time. I'm afraid that even Gore, Edwards or Feingold aren't enough. I say Rocky for Prez, dude.

Why are you ruling out Rocky for President or have the Democratic powers-that-be already picked a Prophet President to lead us out of the Waste Land we are mired in. You know, if it is Russ I might not object, but otherwise we have a general election and several State selection processes before the Democratic Convention nominates the President. If the Democratic bosses have eliminated Rocky and all but one of the other possibilities, why not announce now. That would give us almost two years to join with the Greens and find a candidate of the people (maybe Rocky) instead of one picked by the fat cats in their famous smoke filled rooms!

Jack,

I'm not ruling out Rocky for President but it is rare that anyone goes from mayor to President without a step or two in-between. I had only just heard of Rocky two months ago and this is the first I'd seen of him. He is impressive and like Brian Schweitzer, loaded with charisma. And I certainly don't want anyone selected by the boys in the back room. But let's see how things develop in the next year or so. It's just a bit early. I personally think that the next President is likely to be selected by the netroots.
