New Sony Cybershot Pays Tribute to HorsesAss and "Zoo"

I can't tell if Sony's new Cybershot advertisement "Your Father is not a horses behind" is a Northwest tribute to David Goldstein's blog (is that Tim Eyman at the end of the ad?) or a well-timed tie-in to Charles Mudede's Zoo. You tell me...watch the ad

Heh.

I saw that ad last night, and immediately thought about Goldy.

I just sent a scathing letter to Sony and BBDO (the ad agency) in charge of the campaign. See the contacts on this page:

My letter:

Dear Yolanda and Jocelyn

Stop running your Sony advertisements that ridicule fathers. In case you didn't get the memo, the average photographer would never compose a shot such as the ones you're promoting in your ads. The world knows the difference b/t a father and an animal.

Will your next ad be, "Your mom is not a female dog?" I don't expect this since your intent is more about denouncing fatherhood, rather than about promoting new technology.

I was at a party the other night and someone was raving about photos taken with Sony products. I'd rather have a world that respects fathers, than good photos. I'll be buying Canon or any other brand.

I will be contacting media channels to ask them to reject the ads.

Sincerely,

Dave Doctor
