Democrats Committed to Community Service

For the second time in 8 days, Democratic volunteers are working with local communities on service projects to provide resources and help.

Last weekend over 200 volunteers from a couple dozen Labor, Democratic and church organizations trooped down to Lewis County to the area flooded last December to help out.  The Labor Helping Neighbor project, the Chehalis River Valley Farm Flood Relief, Democrats, working with other community organizations gathered to clear 150 acres of fields and rebuild structures and contributed over $10,000 to Boistfort area flood victims.   Then they joined together for a barbeque at a local grange hall.

This Saturday, May 3rd, the Democrats Work Green River Cleanup will bring volunteers together at the very beautiful Flaming Geyser State Park for a few hours of river cleanup with other Democrats, including Darcy Burner and folks from the 47th Legislative District.  If you'd like to join in, meet at Flaming Geyser State Park just outside of Auburn at 10:00 a.m.

Check out the Democrats Work website for more information or to learn more about the organization.  I wrote about this wonderful new organization last summer.  Democrats Work's mission is to connect the grassroots with tangible service projects in their communities - cleaning up parks and neighborhoods, supporting schools and teachers, building houses and playgrounds, and honoring our veterans. Through this service-based approach, we promote Democratic values at the local level, showing our neighbors that Democrats work hard to improve their communities every day, not just at election time.
