Lieberman the Traitor Survives

TPM commenter GMFord sums up my feelings precisely:

I sent an email to my Senator pointing out how hard I and millions of others worked to elect more and better Democrats this year. I contrasted that to Joe Lieberman not only working to defeat Democrats at every level but speaking out against a Democratic majority, advancing the notion that Obama might not be patriotic, and applauding when McCain's audience boo'ed our presidential candidate.

Perhaps some of us could have had an hour or two more sleep leading up to the election if we weren't also fighting against a traitorous member of our own party.

The vote of the Democratic Caucus was 42-13. They must be proud of themselves, continuing to enable this traitor. Want to know how your senators voted? Don't waste your time. It's a secret ballot.

Update: FDL reports that Patty Murray stood with Harry Reid at a press conference to defend the outrageousness of their actions.

I'm not in the least bit surprised by any of this, including Murray's actions. I just wish I'd made some of the same bets Howie Klein made. [1] I know I could have found plenty of suckers from the group in this FDL thread. [2]

Nearly every time I raise the blindingly obvious point that until the left is willing to do what it can, and really use its influence to help or hurt particular Democrats in Congress, nothing's going to change. Each time, I'm told I'm being negative, or worse. Yet, here we are, being urinated on by these pompous assholes yet again.

You and me both, Cujo. But sometimes it's a drag to be able to see the writing on the wall. The sad thing is that so many bloggers refuse to look reality in the face. The Democratic Congress of 2006-2008 let us down big time so it was not hard to imagine them rolling over one more time if asked to. But Obama is the one who engineered this capitulation w/ Lieberman. The order came from on high last week. But no one in the lefty blogoshpere wants to deal with that part of the story. It's so much easier to pretend that only the Senators are to blame. Neither you or I ever believed Obama was a savior and for that we are called negative. So be it. The writing was on the wall.

Incidentally, your post the other day on John Brennan was excellent. Wonder how the bloggers will respond to his power plays as Obama's advisor. Well, we already saw how much Obama cared about preventing the odious, unconstitutional FISA bill from passing -- a piece of legislation that Brennan loved and supported.

Such a bummer when those rose-colored glasses get crushed.
